NUS Annual Conference Delegate Candidate: Laura Jones
Hey, I’m Laura, and I want to tell you 5 reasons why you should send me to NUS national conference:
1, I am familiar with the procedure having represented the SU at NUS LGBT national conference;
2, I will build on the work done in the SU this year with the anti-fees demonstrations, NUS and the country need to hear WLV SU’s voice;
3, I will take welfare issues that present themselves to conference as student welfare is a cornerstone of my beliefs;
4, I want to lobby the delegates on key issues such as the NUS ‘freedom of speech’ campaign;
5, I will work, I don’t take the responsibility of going to conference lightly and will do MY best to make YOUR views heard.
Aside from this, I’ve been volunteering in the Union now for nearly 3 academic years and I hope to finish this year with 500 volunteer hours. I have volunteered with different welfare campaigns such as the Anti-Burglary and the Green campaign; I have been on the committee of 6 societies and have held the position of Telford and LSSC Rep.
So whilst I run for both this position and welfare VP, I urge you not to consider me for just one, I urge you to consider me for both. I am a dedicated student, a dedicated rep and I will push for change and for us all as students to be heard. There is strength in numbers, vote for me and let me prove that.
