Why should students vote for you & how would you change their student experience for the better?:
Hey, my name is Jade Mckeown, I am currently in my first year of an Animal Conservation degree, so the role of Environmental Officer is very appealing to me as I have a great passion for helping to preserve the Earth.
The University here is already very environmentally sound as they perform many of its operations with environmental aspects in mind, and the Students Union helps immensely with that, but I'm hoping you give me the chance to help the University keep up its great environmental standards and to hopefully even improve upon them.
My goals are;
- Help place more of the sensor lighting throughout the University.
- Ensure the toilets (mostly library/by gym) are cleaned and checked thoroughly.
- Help to ensure all matters dealt with by SU are environmentally friendly.
- Work closely with the Welfare President to ensure their tasks are completed.
- Create new and exciting student events to promote awareness of environmental issues.
- Hold regular sessions with students looking for help within the SU.
- Talk to every student possible to gather their ideas regarding environmental issues.
- Work closely with existing environmental societies/help to create new ones.
