Your voice is my voice vote for Megan.
My name is Megan I study LLB Law and currently the Representative for the Law school,
I am a part-time businesswoman and entrepreneur with good leadership skills, bringing a wealth of experience from being a great advocate for others,
I care about people and students, I don’t stand around, I carefully plan my strategy, then take action and deliver “actions speak louder than words.”
I can truly say In the small time I have been in post within the law school I have made change and set motions for the future community within the school, I also helped set president for future school reps..
I understand the importance to build a community, help the student's experience become enjoyable and bringing everyone together through diversity within our multicultural community, with a sense of student's well-being and individual needs.
I want to make a change in my clear vision for the future success of the university
I will make my presence known and bridge the gap within the community that has been lost over the pandemic and listen to what students want.
My passion is to help people so that no student should struggle or go without, this collaborates with my manifesto for president.
Cost of living crisis
tackle student poverty with access to free or discounted food with a diverse menu in the canteen,
how will I do this?
approach local businesses supermarkets and food share projects, charities within the local area.
Student finance
Communicate with the university about student finance issues which seems to be occurring lately, how will I tackle this?
send out a survey to all students so I can help address the issue.
Student's well-being
People's mental health and well-being should be a priority,
I know we have a good wellbeing centre, but I would like to bring this service more visual for students acknowledging that students need help and support every step of the way, we all have life issues, I understand the importance of a good mental health especially whilst studying, “a healthy mind brings balance towards success.”
Exploring possible relaxing and well-being hubs for students,
Weekly walk-in confidential sessions or just sessions for students to talk to someone, explore starting a student Samaritans,
help students with screening of Dyslexia, Autism and ADHD if they wish to,
I also understand that some disabilities are not visible,
how will I do this? talk to wellbeing services and see what help and support can be arranged also talk to charities within our community and hold a meeting to find out how the university can help.
Student Parking
Parking is an issue, it costs a fortune as president I would like to implement free parking for students and explore a park-and-ride system,
how will I do this?
hold a meeting and see how the university can tackle this issue as it affects many of us.
Childcare
As a parent childcare is an issue, over the covid 19 lockdown period the university closed the onsite crèche, this would be a great place for students who are parents or even staff, as we need a safe place for our children to go whilst we study,
it is very hard finding childcare in the school holidays, parents are still expected to come to lessons.
how would I do this?
hold a meeting speak to the university, hold them accountable for why we are expected to study in the school holidays with no childcare facilities, furthermore, put the wheels in motion for childcare to be accessible on-site or locally.
Wolverhampton University App
Implement a student journey app, in today's day and age we all use apps for everything, so why not design a student experience app, with everything you need to know in one place, such as each faculty school, services to the local areas, links to hospitality venues, google maps including links to local NHS services, it would be the whole university and its surroundings in one app, bringing the university in tune to the 21st century, this could change the student experience and give people access to everything at their fingertips,, especially if we went into another lockdown the university will be virtual.
I would also put issues forward around timetabling, and the ongoing issue with the Ask desk,
I will also be holding the rest of my team accountable for their manifesto’s ,with the intention to tackle work that needs to be achieved in the interest of the students.
Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto.
