Find out more about your 2025/26 Sabbatical Officer team.
The SU Elections 2025 have drawn to a close! Thank you to all who got involved, whether by running for one of the positions, coming along to a candidate event, looking through manifestos and of course, casting your votes! You can find out more about the changes we made by clicking here.
Based on feedback from students, this year voting was in-person only. This meant that students had to come to one of 7 ballot stations, across City, Walsall and Telford campus in order to cast their vote. In total, 1920 students cast a vote.
Each student can cast 4 votes, one for each of the positions, which were:
- SU President
- VP Academic
- VP Diversity
- VP Community

In this year’s election, there were 5874 votes cast.
The SU uses a Single Transferable Vote system, which means students rank the candidates for each position in order of preference. This means that their vote effectively never goes to waste as if their first-choice candidate is eliminated, their vote will transfer to their second-choice etc.
The vote for each position is split into ‘rounds’. In each round, a threshold is calculated automatically based on the number of votes cast and number of candidates. A candidate must pass this threshold in order to win.
The SU is pleased to announce that the following candidates were elected for the 2025/26 Sabbatical Officer team:
