Welcome Week 2024 FAQs

What is Welcome Week 2024? Welcome Week 2024 is a programme of events and activities designed to introduce students to all of the social and support services available to them outside of their academic life, as well as refresh returning students about University life here at Wolverhampton.

Are Welcome Week events just for first-year students? No. All students from any year of study are welcome to attend Welcome Week events.

Where can I find more information about Wolves SU? Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

I missed out on the Fayre, can I still join a society? Yes, of course, you can! You’re free to join a society even after Welcome Week. To join, visit our society page here to see what societies are on offer. Make sure you are logged into the site, click on the Societies page, pick the society that interests you, and add the membership to your basket.

I want to start my own society, how do I do this? If you’d like to start your own society, visit the Create a Society page here, where you can fill in an online form. For more information, email societies@wolvesunion.org or visit the SU where staff will be able to guide you through the process and explain more about societies.

What should I do if I feel homesick or overwhelmed during Welcome Week? It’s completely normal to feel homesick or overwhelmed. The university offers various support services, including counselling and wellbeing support. Visit the Students’ Union Advice team or contact the university’s student support services for help.

 

General Questions

What is the Students’ Union? The Students' Union is an independent charity that listens to and supports students. We're here for all students, regardless of course, mode, or location of study. We're here to represent you, advise you, and make sure you get the most out of your University experience.
Our core aims are:
  • To enhance the Student Voice across the University.
  • To maximise the Student Experience for all.
  • To promote and support Student Success.

Where can I find all the latest events? All of our latest events can be found on the website www.wolvesunion.org/whatson.

I’ve not received my funding yet, what do I do? If you have filled in and sent all the relevant forms correctly and have received your notification letter, you should receive your loan once your attendance has been confirmed by the University. If not, contact Student Finance England on 0300 100 0607 (for a Students’ Union Finance Self-Help Guide, click here).

Where can I get my timetable from? You can get your timetable by looking on the University website and searching for the relevant modules.

I need some advice, where can I go? The Help & Advice team is based at the City Campus Students’ Union in the Ambika Paul Building. The Help & Advice team is Advice Quality Standard (AQS) assured and offers free, confidential, and impartial advice. There are a variety of ways you can contact Advice, click here for further details.

How do I access the library and other study resources? The library and study resources are accessible with your student ID card. You can find more information on the university’s website or by visiting the library directly.
